Membership

If you are interested in learning more about our church’s beliefs or are interested in joining our church, the membership class is the place to start. While attendance in the class is required to become a member, you are not required to become a member when the class is complete. This class will teach you about our church, our church doctrine, church government and individual responsibility to our church in order to promote better understanding and harmony among its members. Talk with Pastor Brittingham if you are interested in this class.

Opportunities for Growth

Small Groups

Hillside small groups meet in homes or at church at different times during the week. The groups discuss questions (see Small Group Questions) that the Pastor generated based on his message the previous Sunday. These groups are meant to provide a place where people can relax, build relationships, and feel comfortable studying the Word of God. See the Pastor for more information about the current small groups.

Attend a Men’s or Ladies’ Bible Study

These Bible studies occur at various times throughout the year. The ladies studies happen at church or in homes, while the men’s studies occur at church. Contact Pastor Brittingham for information about the men’s study, and Peggy Plank for information about the ladies studies.

Participate in a Men’s Fellowship Outing

These events happen once a month and are announced in the bulletin. Pastor Brittingham will have more information about the next outing.

Opportunities for Volunteering

The opportunity to volunteer and work side by side with our church family will provide an immediate opportunity to both connect and build relationships! As a consistent attender at Hillside, you have been under the Biblical teaching of our Pastor. Volunteering in the local church will help you to continue to grow in your spiritual walk.

“Holy Rollers” – Ladies Ministry to Memorial Christian Hospital in Bangladesh

The ladies meet at 10 AM on the 1st, 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month to roll bandages made from bed sheets for the Bangladesh Hospital. This is a much needed resource for the hospital, and our ladies are faithful to the cause. They are also happy to teach their skill! Geri Covell is the chairperson for this outreach.

“Totally Free Giveaway”

The “Totally Free Giveaway” is an opportunity to donate things you no longer need or use and offer them in a free giveaway to our local community. This outreach is scheduled to take place during the month of May. It takes many hands to accomplish this outreach. People are needed to sort and display clothing and other donations. On the “Giveaway” day, people are needed to help those who are looking for various items, as well as help carry items to cars. Then there is the job of bagging and boxing all that remains in order for the Salvation Army to take the remainder. It is a huge outreach that is a great project to volunteer for! Watch for information in the church bulletin. Michelle and Nate Ahrens are the chair-people for this event.

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is a non-profit outreach sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse whose mission is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in poor countries. They then work with the local churches to share the Good News of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our part in this is to fill shoeboxes with items that children in different age ranges can use. Gift suggestions as well as other information can be found on the Operation Christmas Child website (http://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/) Our church families can take a shoebox to fill, or they can donate items to fill at our packing party that will be announced in the church bulletin. This is a great opportunity to participate in a powerful outreach. John and Deb Falci are the chair-people for this outreach.
