Awake to Righteousness!

As we have learned, some in the church at Corinth were saying that there is no resurrection from the dead (1 Cor. 15:12). But if the dead do not rise then Christ is not risen! And if Christ is not risen, dreadful circumstances must follow (vv.13-20). In verses 29-34, Paul returned to a discussion of this hypothetical, “If the dead do not rise.” In this passage, he cited two practices which are inexplicable if the dead do not rise: “Why are people baptized for the dead?” and “Why do Christians risk their lives in service to the Lord?”
