This time of year we think of the three gifts the wise men brought to Jesus when He was about two years of age; however, today we are not focusing on the gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh listed in Matthew 2:11. Instead, we are focusing on the gifts of grace that God has given to us today. These treasures are found in Romans chapter 5. In this chapter we find three gifts: PEACE WITH GOD, PEACE OF GOD, AND HOPE OF ETERNITY WITH GOD. Wise men are thankful for these gifts. PEACE WITH GOD is the justification we receive when we place our faith in Christ’s work on the cross and resurrection. It’s a gift of grace, Ephesians 2:8. PEACE OF GOD is a daily choice to keep our focus on Him and eternal things as opposed to the temporal things here on earth, Colossians 3:15 And finally, the HOPE OF ETERNITY SPENT WITH GOD is a gift of grace that motivates endurance and an eternal perspective, 1 Peter 1:3-9. We need to let these gifts of grace permeate our lives in 2021.
Colossians 3:15 “Let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.”
