Puffed Up People

Paul continued in this passage to address the Corinthians’ disunity (1 Cor. 4:6-13). They were proud and puffed up toward one another based on what minister they followed. Paul attempted to remedy the issue by again indicating that he and Apollos were really only servants and stewards in which they should not boast (cf. 3:21). There was nothing glamorous about being an apostle. Paul said, “To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless.” (see verse 11) To be puffed up on behalf of one minister against the other was folly, and had resulted in divisions.
