In the previous section (1 Corinthians 15:12-19), because some in Corinth said there was no resurrection, Paul gave the dreadful consequences if that were true – that is, if there is no resurrection then Christ is not risen. He began this section with the triumphal declaration, “But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep” (1 Corinthians 15:20).
Christ was raised from the dead and so we who are His will also be raised to life when He comes to deliver the kingdom to God the Father after He destroys all His enemies including death that God may be glorified (1 Corinthians 15:20-28). Since our Lord Jesus acted so that God the Father may be glorified or as Paul wrote, “may be all in all,” we too must act for that same purpose.
