The Trinity

As Christians, we should grow in our knowledge of God. Among the prayer requests Paul made for the believers in Christ at Colossae was that they may increase in their knowledge of God (Colossians 1:10). Though the word “trinity” is not found in the Bible, it is one of the core truths about God in the Bible. In essence, the Trinity is the doctrine that God is one and He eternally exists as the three persons of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Bible is clear that there is one God. “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one!” (Deuteronomy 6:4). Each of the three persons of the Trinity is God (1Peter 1:3; John 1:1-3, 14; Acts 5:3-4). There are not three Gods, but one God as three persons. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are equally God, each of them possess the attributes of God, but they do have different roles. Let’s increase in our knowledge of God by better understanding the Trinity!
