An enemy you can’t see or don’t see is a serious threat. In Psalm 25 David gives us valuable insight into how to address that very real threat to our souls. As believers we tend to live out our days oblivious to our sin. We can see sin in others in living color, but our own sinful ways become obscure. As a result we go on repeatedly sinning against God. We don’t repent or ask God for forgiveness because we don’t even realize our need. As a result we become stagnant spiritually and we don’t grow in sanctification. David’s answer was to “lift up his soul” before God and ask Him do a thorough assessment. When God revealed the condition of David’s soul to him he was stricken with remorse, repented, sought forgiveness and God gave it. Intimacy with God was renewed.
