Jesus, King of the Natural and Spirit Worlds

In these two passages, Jesus demonstrates that He is the Ruler of both the natural and spirit world (Mat 8:23-27, 28-34). The first passage is an account of Jesus calming a storm on the Sea of Galilee. The reaction of the disciples is telling, “Who can this be, that even the winds and sea obey Him?” In the second passage, demonstrates Jesus’ authority over the spirit world in that He cast demons out of two men. It is telling that the demons ask Jesus’ permission to enter a herd of swine. So, Jesus demonstrated His authority over both the seen and unseen world. Therefore, we need not fear anything in the natural world including viruses, nor need we fear anything in the spirit world including the devil himself. In fact, Jesus asked the disciples in the midst of the storm, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?”
