“The Church Is Not a Building”

We sometimes think of the church as a building constructed of concrete, wood and bricks or other materials used to erect a structure. But the Bible never refers to the church as a building where people meet. In fact, the church is not a building but a people, a people whom God has called out from the world to be His own special people. The church today includes everyone who has believed in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and has trusted Him to save them from their sins through His death, burial and resurrection.
The church is not a building, but Jesus did promise to “build” His church. “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it (Matthew 16:18). Jesus is in the process today of building His church, that is gathering to Himself those who will believe in and follow Him. And He has chosen to use us! Before He ascended back to heaven He commanded His disciples, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” Amen (Matthew 28:19-20).
Let us be determined beginning in 2019 to be more involved in fulfilling the Great Commission Jesus has given us!
